Questions & answers
How Bizfari works
20 answers about the directory: where listings come from, how to claim or add a business, events and the Best of vote.
About the directory
What is Bizfari?
A free directory of local businesses across the United States, organized by state, town and category. It currently lists 11,620,292 businesses in 26,461 towns and cities across 51 states.
Who pays for it?
Businesses can buy an optional paid plan that adds extras to their listing, and those extras are always labeled. Being listed, claiming a listing and fixing it are free, and stay free.
Where do the listings come from?
From public, openly licensed business data, from owners who add or claim their own business, and from corrections people send in. A person reviews every business that is added by hand before it goes live.
Is a business ranked higher because it pays?
No. Listings in a category are in alphabetical order. A paid plan never moves a business up a list or into a Best of result.
Do you sell my information?
No. We do not sell personal information. See the privacy page for what little we keep and why.
Claiming your listing
How do I claim my business?
Find your listing and choose "Claim this listing." We check that the business is yours, then you can sign in and edit it.
How do you check that it is mine?
The quickest way is an email address on your business's own web domain. Otherwise a person checks by hand before anyone gets the keys to a record. It is slower than a tick-box, and it is why a stranger cannot rewrite your address.
What does claiming cost?
Nothing. Claiming and editing your listing are free.
What can I change once I have claimed it?
Your hours, phone number, address, website and description, and your answers to the questions customers ask about businesses like yours.
How do I sign in?
Go to Sign in, enter your email and password, then the six-digit code we email you. If you have never set a password, use "Forgot your password" to set one.
Adding a business
My business is not listed. How do I add it?
Use Add your business. It takes about two minutes and costs nothing.
How long until it is live?
A person reviews each submission, usually within a business day. We email you when it is up.
Can I add a business that works from home or is mobile?
Yes. Leave the street address blank and give the town you serve.
My town is not in the list. What do I do?
Pick the nearest town we cover. We add towns as we grow.
Using the directory
How do I find a business?
Use search, or browse by state, then town, then category. Each town has 94 categories to choose from.
Can I ask a question instead of searching?
Yes. Ask works like asking a neighbor: "who fixes air conditioners in Huntsville, AL?" Every business in the answer is one listed here.
Can I find or post a job here?
Yes. Jobs lists openings at local businesses, and posting one is free with no account. A person reads each post first, and it runs for 60 days.
Where are the events?
On the events calendar. We currently have upcoming events in 4 cities, and anyone can add one for free.
What is Best of 2026?
A free, write-in vote for the best local businesses in each state. One vote per person per category, confirmed by email, and a vote cannot be bought. Cast your vote.
Something on a listing is wrong. How do I fix it?
If it is your business, claim it and fix it yourself. If it is not, let us know and we will look.
Still stuck? Ask about a business, or get in touch.
